Goal Reached! Hike for Hospice Raises $100,000!

On May 3rd over 300 participants and 30 canines gathered at Fisherman’s Wharf Park for the 4th Annual Victoria Hike for Hospice. Teams, families and individuals came out to support end-of-life care in the community and to remember loved ones. The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed live music, face painting, a free draw, and snacks before heading off on a scenic 3.5km walk along Victoria’s waterfront.

The results from the Hike were tremendous - over $47,000 was raised for Victoria Hospice! On top of that, long-time donor and supporter Rudi Hoenson had announced he would match all funds raised up to $50,000. Rudi was so pleased with the efforts of the community that he topped up the total to $50,000 and then matched the entire amount! This brought the grand total to $100,000!

Victoria Hospice is thrilled and grateful for Rudi’s generosity. We are also deeply thankful to each and every participant, donor and volunteer for their support – we couldn't have done it without you! Nearly half of Victoria Hospice’s operating costs must be funded by community donations, making events such as Hike for Hospice critical to our efforts to provide the best in end-of-life care.
