Director of Nursing Services 

As the Director of Nursing Services, you will be an important member of the Victoria Hospice Leadership Team. You are an experienced and energetic leader who is approachable, supportive and motivated to bring out the best in nursing knowledge and practice through smart hiring decisions and ongoing opportunities in professional development, teaching and research.  Your outstanding interpersonal skills enhance communication with nurses, colleagues, volunteers, patients, and families as well as with community health authority and academic stakeholders.

Our ideal candidate has a Nursing Degree plus a minimum of five years of experience in the management of staff. Hospice palliative care experience, with CNA certification in Palliative Care, preferred. Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred however a combination of educational, managerial and clinical experience acceptable to Victoria Hospice may be considered. Eligibility for registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals is required.

Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity
 
Victoria Hospice and Island Health are seeking applicants for a Canadian Institutes of Health Research 'Health Impact System Fellow' at the postdoctoral level.
 
The overall impact goal for this funding-dependent joint fellowship is to improve care for patients who prefer to die at home, wherever home may be. We are interested in research that focuses on interdisciplinary community-based models of care and social innovations for frail seniors, and innovations that enhance value by addressing specific challenges for those who prefer to die at home, including but not restricted to: 

•         remote support for patients and caregivers; 
•         patient navigation; 
•         pain and symptom management in the home; 
•         psychosocial care in the home for patients and caregivers; and 
•         bereavement
