Hospital Care

Although most patients prefer to be cared for at home, they may be admitted to one of our 17 in-patient beds for any of the following reasons:

  • Assessment
  • Management of pain or other difficult symptoms
  • Respite care to allow a one-week stay with us while caregivers get a rest
  • Ongoing care for people who are unable to remain at home

Our beautifully refurbished In-Patient Unit in the Royal Jubilee Hospital’s Richmond Pavilion is as home-like as possible. It includes a family lounge with a television, DVD and stereo equipment, children’s toys and games, a well-stocked kitchen, a quiet/meditation room, a solarium with computer/internet access, a smoking area for patients only, and a beautiful rooftop garden. Eleven of our patient rooms are private rooms that feature televisions, small fridges, radio/CD players and sleeper chairs where visiting family members can stay overnight if they wish; three rooms are semi-private rooms without sleeper chairs. Visiting hours are unrestricted, including for children and pets.

Find out more about visiting hours, children and pet visitors under supervision, and smoking restrictions on our In-Patient Unit.
